New Welsh Government Campaign

November 21st, 2011 | Posted by admin in News

Byw Heb Ofn / Live Fear Free is the Welsh Government’s latest high profile campaign aimed at raising awareness and challenging attitudes towards domestic abuse in Wales.

In England and Wales 29% of women and 16% of men have experienced domestic abuse at some point in their lives, but because it often happens behind closed doors the problem is ignored.  The effects of physical and emotional torment can be far-reaching, having a huge impact on the health of the victim and that of any children living in the home.

The campaign centres on a website Live Fear Free hosting two thought-provoking videos. The first focuses on sexual violence and the second on the impact of domestic abuse on children.  Viewers are invited to watch and leave their comments.  The campaign is supported by a Facebook page, Twitter feed and digital advertising.

The campaign launched in September 2011, and will be renewed in December 2011.
